ENTER THE ALIEN (1): Meditations on Self-Consciousness in Hegel (w/ Chetan Anand)

In this discussion, I investigate Chetan Anand's chapter in Enter the Alien focused on "Self-Consciousness in Hegel." Chetan is a social theorist interested in ethnography, the relationship between theory and practice, and the way in which a partial reading of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit, specifically the chapter on Self-Consciousness, can introduce us to a movement which can track negativity. From this standpoint he also offers us engagement with the link between Kant and Deleuze as it relates to concepts of intensity and extensity, as well as the irreducible relation between philosophy and political-economy, with references to Hannah Arendt and Karl Marx.
