This August we will be hosting philosopher Dylan Shaul, whose work orbits both the study of German Idealism and the Philosophy of Religion.  This month will function as an invitation to rethinking metaphysics, with ancient, modern, and postmodern philosophy.  We start with the central topic "Metaphysics Resurrected” with the idea that 20th century philosophy thought it could do away with the metaphysical baggage of the past, only to find it return with a vengeance in the work of many great philosophers bridging the 20th to the 21st century (from Badiou to Zizek to Meillassoux and Harman).  We then investigate "Post-Kantian Speculative Theology” as the challenge beyond the "Death of God” in the work of contemporary philosophers wrestling again with a living God without returning to the Pre-Kantian dogmatic world.  In the third session we will investigate "Theopolitics and the Mystery of the Kingdom” in engaging the way the relation between theology and politics was severed in the Kantian turn, and how that separation is being reconstituted today.  Or should it?  Finally, we offer a Real Talk session (sharing circle) on the dimension of "Mystical Reason” and "Rational Mysticism”, exploring the tentative relation between domains often thought to be in an irreducible separation from each other.  To get involved during our live sessions this August, or to access the recording indefinitely, sign up below!
